5 Ways to Boost Salesperson Productivity with the Salesforce Summer '18 Release

Jul 26, 2018 by Brian Stevenson

Last month, Codey the bear greeted us with hundreds of new features in the Summer ’18 release. We read the 554-page release notes and have identified five exciting new features that boost salesperson productivity. Grab your snorkel and let’s go for a swim!

Build Stronger Relationships with Your Contacts using Paths

Years ago, Paths were known as “Sales Paths,” and were focused on helping a salesperson nurture new Leads and Opportunities. Today, Salesforce has expanded this tool to help reps build strong relationships with their Contacts, not just new leads.

You can think of a Path as a guided business process. As the Contact moves through the business process, each stage identifies “Key Fields” and “Guidance for Success.” For example, Path could be used to build a progressive profile of your Contact with every touchpoint in the Contact lifecycle. And, it can be used to gather valuable feedback, build brand loyalty, and discover new opportunities.

Filter Contacts by Campaign Name

In the list view, it is now possible to filter Contacts by Campaign Name. This is a powerful feature because it is now possible to use that filtered view to generate a “List Email” that goes out to all contacts in the campaign (or other actions that need to be applied to all contacts).

Quickly Assign Tasks to Other People and Groups

When creating a new task, it is now possible to create tasks for other people on your team. This is a huge timesaver if you manage a large sales team and need to create tasks in bulk.

Expanded Options for Filtering Activities

It is now easier to search for activities on an Account, Contact, Opportunity, and other records using the filter icon. For example, a rep may only be interested in seeing their own activities rather than the activities performed by other team members.

Rescheduling Meetings are a Snap with Drag-and-Drop

The calendar received a significant upgrade in this release. It’s now possible to reschedule a meeting by simply dragging it to a new time slot. Before, a salesperson needed to open the record detail page and select a new start and end time.

Summary

With the exception of Path, all of these Lightning features are activated and ready to use! If you’re interested in enabling Path for Contacts, reach out to your Salesforce Administrator to set up the page layout, stages, key fields, and guidance for success (leave us a note if you need help or have questions). We hope your salespeople enjoy these features as much as we do. What are some of your favorite new features?
