Jared Starner

Senior Consultant

Jared Starner, HMB Thought Leader

Jared loves deep-diving into audits and creating living test suites to keep software deployments as boring as possible. He’s worked across a variety of industries, bringing process change, automation, and top-notch testing practices along with him. His QA experience coupled with a Marketing degree means your employees will actually enjoy reading that new User Guide.

And don’t worry – standing up and admining a brand-new JIRA implementation won’t be a problem, either. Just make sure he’s had his morning spinach smoothie first.

What is your favorite thing about working at HMB?

HMB provides an environment where respect goes both ways. If you’ve got great ideas, even as an associate, the execs will give you the time of day and use your ideas to win projects and develop solutions.

What’s the most important thing you’ve learned as a consultant?

Adaptability. Each client has a different set of needs, and each client accepts change/suggestions at different rates. And you have to learn to find that sweet spot every time.

What is the most challenging project you've ever worked on?

We had a publicly-funded project that was behind schedule with an inherent conflict of interest due to a separate consulting firm being unable to provide resources. Despite all this, after implementing some Risk Based Testing practices, we got the project across the finish line in time.
