Robert Barger

Robert Barger

Robert earned his PMP certification in 2006 and has been writing articles for various Project Management Institute publications ever since. He has worked on a large variety of technology projects for Financial and Utility service providers. He has a little OCD. Thankfully he has found a job that rewards that particular personality trait. He also has a 80s cover band called ‘1000Mb’ they practice a lot, but can’t seem to get a gig. Ok, not really.

What is your favorite thing about working at HMB?

The opportunity to work on a large variety of projects, and technologies, with a group of professionals who are continually raising the performance bar.

What’s the most important thing you’ve learned as a consultant?

For the project manager, consulting is the top of the scale for testing your professional abilities. The PM working as a consultant should be even more aware of client satisfaction and professionalism, while providing excellent project management.

What advice would you give someone starting a career in technology?

Don’t forget to work on your soft skills as well as your technical skills. Client interaction, and being able to explain your position and concerns, are as much a part of the professional world as the code and the gigabytes.
